Researchers are looking for a better way to treat children who have chronic kidney disease (CKD), which is long-term kidney disease, and proteinuria, a condition in which a person´s kidneys leak protein into the urine. The kidneys filter waste and fluid from the blood to form urine. In children with CKD, the kidney´s filters do not work as well as they should. This can lead to accumulation of waste and fluid in the body and proteinuria. CKD can lead to other medical problems, such as high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Vice versa, hypertension and proteinuria can also contribute to worsening of CKD. Therefore, the treatment of CKD aims to control blood pressure and proteinuria. There are treatments available for doctors to prescribe to children with CKD and hypertension and/or proteinuria. These include "angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors" (ACEI) and "angiotensin receptor blockers" (ARB). Both ACEI and ARB can help improve kidney function by reducing the activity of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). The RAAS is a system that works with the kidneys to control blood pressure and the balance of fluid and electrolytes in the blood. In people with CKD, the RAAS is often too active, which can impair the ability of the kidneys to work properly and cause hypertension and proteinuria. However, ACEI or ARB treatment alone does not work for all patients with CKD as they only target the angiotensin part of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The study treatment, finerenone, is expected to help control RAAS overactivation together with an ACEI or ARB. So, the researchers in this study want to learn more about whether finerenone given in addition to either an ACEI or ARB can help their kidney function. The main purpose of this study is to learn how safe the treatment is when used of finerenone in addition to an ACEI or ARB in long-term. To see how safe the treatment is, the study team will collect information on medical problems which are also known as "treatment emergent adverse events" (TEAEs). And they will also collect levels of an electrolyte called potassium in the blood by taking blood samples, and measure blood pressure during the study. The secondary purpose of this study is to learn how well long-term use of finerenone can reduce the amount of protein in the participants' urine and benefit kidney function when taken with standard of care. To see how the treatment works, the study team will collect participants' urine samples to assess urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) and urinary protein-to-creatinine ratio (UPCR), which are important assessments for calculating the level of protein in the urine. Researchers will also collect blood samples to analyze serum creatinine and calculate estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). A significant decline in eGFR indicates worsening kidney function. The study will include participants who had previously participated in FIONA study (NCT05196035). The participants will be aged from 1 year up to 18 years. The participants will be in the study for approximately 19 months. They will take study treatment for up to 18 months and will be follow up for 1 month. During this period, at least 12 visits are planned for patients who newly start finerenone, and at least 8 visits for patients who already received finerenone. In the visit, the study team will: * have their blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, height and weight measured * have blood and urine samples taken * have physical examinations * have their heart examined by an electrocardiogram and echocardiography (a sonogram of the heart) * answer questions about their medication and whether they have any adverse events, or have their parents or guardian's answer * answer questions about how they are feeling, or have their parents or guardian's answer * answer question about how they like the study medication, or have their parents or guardian's answer The doctors will keep track of any adverse events. An adverse event is any medical problem that a participant has during a study. Doctors keep track of all adverse events that happen in studies, even if they do not think the adverse events might be related to the study treatments. The doctors will check the participants' health about 30 days after the participants take their last treatment.

The main purpose of this study is to learn more about whether finerenone added to either ACEI or ARB can help reduce the amount of protein in the participants' urine more than a placebo. A placebo looks like a treatment but does not have any medicine in it. Participants will also continue to receive their other medications. To see how the treatment work, the doctors will take samples of the participants' urine to measure their protein levels before and during taking treatment and after their last treatment. In addition, blood samples will be taken to monitor kidney function, electrolytes and the amount of finerenone in the blood as well as for other tests. This study will include children with CKD and proteinuria aged from 6 months up to less than 18 years. The participants will take: * either finerenone or the placebo, in addition to * either ACEI or ARB, whichever they take as part of their normal treatment Two visits are required up to 104 days, to check whether a child can take part in the treatment phase of the study. If participants qualify for the treatment phase, they will then undergo treatment for about 180 days. During this time, they will visit the study site at least 7 times. During these visits, the participants will: * have their blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, height and weight measured * have blood and urine samples taken * have physical examinations * have their heart examined by an electrocardiogram and echocardiography (a sonogram of the heart) * answer questions about their medication and whether they have any adverse events , or have their parents or guardians answer * answer questions about how they are feeling, or have their parents or guardians answer * answer question about how they like the study medication, or have their parents or guardians answer The doctors will keep track of any adverse events. Clinical and Molecular Characteristics of Primary Aldosteronism in Blacks

Background: The adrenal gland makes the hormone aldosterone. This helps regulate blood pressure. An adrenal gland tumor that makes too much aldosterone can cause high blood pressure and low potassium. The cause of these tumors is unknown, but sometimes they are inherited. Objective: To study the genes that may cause primary aldosteronism in Black individuals. Eligibility: People ages 18-70 who: Are Black, African American, or of Caribbean descent And have difficult to control blood pressure or primary aldosteronism Relatives of people with primary aldosteronism Design: Participants who are relatives of people with primary aldosteronism will have only 1 visit, with medical history and blood tests. Participants with primary aldosteronism or difficult to control blood pressure (suspected to possibly have primary aldosteronism) will be screened with a 1-2 hour visit. If they qualify, they will return for a hospital stay for 7-10 days. Tests may include: Medical history Physical exam Blood tests: Participants will have a small tube (IV catheter) inserted in a vein in the arm. They may drink a glucose-containing liquid or get a salt solution. If medically indicated, they may have invasive blood tests with a separate consent. Urine tests: Some require a high-salt diet for 3 days. Heart tests Scans: Participants lie in a machine that takes pictures of the body. A dye may be injected through a vein. Small hair sample taken from near the scalp. Kidney ultrasound Bone density scan: Participants lie on a table while a camera passes over the body. If the doctors feel it is medically necessary, they will offer participants treatment depending on their results. These treatments may cure the patient of their disease and may include: 1. Having one adrenal gland removed by the Endocrine surgeon under anesthesia. Patients will have follow-up visits 2-4 weeks after surgery. 2. Taking drugs to block the effects of aldosterone Participants may return about 1 year later to repeat testing.

Digital Solutions to Reduce Maternal Morbidity and Mortality in Pregnant Refugee Women

The goal of this observational study is to use digital health tracking to improve how high blood pressure and other health issues are detected in pregnant refugee women. The main questions this study aims to answer are are: * Can a digital monitoring system that checks for high blood pressure in these women be tested and refined, using clinical training and validation? * Can this digital monitoring system accurately track any related pregnancy health issues and be used to refer participants to care providers? * Can this system be used to accurately identify risks associated with the contraction of pregnancy-related conditions, such as preeclampsia and high blood pressure? Participants will: * Complete baseline and follow-up in-person appointments; * Complete surveys at these appointment that track their health, stress levels, and comorbidities/risks associated with pregnancy; * Be given a smartwatch fitness tracker and electronic blood pressure cuffs for at-home measurements.

EASi-PROTKT™ - A Study to Test Vicadrostat (BI 690517) Taken Together With Empagliflozin in People With Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Cardiovascular Disease

This study is open to adults with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. People can join the study if they have these conditions and do not have a history of heart failure. The purpose of this study is to find out if a medicine called vicadrostat, when taken with empagliflozin, helps reduce cardiovascular risk in people with these conditions. The study will compare this combination to a placebo version of vicadrostat with empagliflozin. Participants are put into 2 groups randomly, which means by chance. One group takes vicadrostat and empagliflozin tablets, and the other group takes placebo tablets with empagliflozin. Placebo tablets look like vicadrostat tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants take a tablet once per day for 2 and a half years and up to 4 years and 3 months. All participants also continue their medication for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. Participants have an equal chance of receiving the study medicine or placebo. Participants are in the study for up to 4 years and 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. During these visits, doctors collect information about participants' health and take blood samples. The doctors document when participants experience cardiovascular events. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

A Study to Learn More About the Safety of the Drug Vericiguat in Japanese People With Chronic Heart Failure Who Will be Receiving Vericiguat Under Real-world Conditions

This is an observational study in which data from Japanese people with chronic heart failure who will be receiving vericiguat is studied. Chronic heart failure (HF) is a long-term condition where the heart does not pump blood as well as it should. Heart failure can lead to other serious medical conditions, and it can lead to hospitalization or death. The drug vericiguat works by increasing the activity of an enzyme called soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC). The sGC enzyme helps regulate the heart and blood circulation. Vericiguat is already available and approved for doctors to prescribe to people who have heart failure. A limited number of patients have been treated with vericiguat. Therefore information about its safety in a broader population and especially among Japanese people as well as for prolonged periods of treatment is still missing. In this study, the researchers want to learn more about how safe vericiguat is if used in Japanese people with long term HF. To see how safe vericiguat is, the researchers will collect the medical problems the participants have during the treatment with vericiguat under real-word conditions. They will particularly focus on the following: * high blood pressure * any medical problems due to combination of the study treatment vericiguat with nitrates and nitric oxide (NO) donors or with PDE5 inhibitors * medical problems in participants with liver problems or with reduced kidney function * medical problems in participants with low blood pressure below \

Inorganic Nitrate Supplementation in Chronic Hypertensive Pregnancies

High blood pressure during pregnancy poses significant risks to both the mother and baby. A combination of factors, including advancing maternal age, rising obesity rates, and metabolic health issues, have amplified the prevalence of this condition. While conventional medicines are available, safety during pregnancy remains a concern. Recent studies suggest that inorganic nitrate might be a safer alternative. The power of nitrate lies in its ability to stimulate the body's production of a compound that aids in dilating and relaxing blood vessels. Preliminary studies conducted on mice and a select group of pregnant women have yielded encouraging results. Early tests indicated that after consuming inorganic nitrate, there was a reduction in blood pressure and an improvement in the health of the mother's uterine artery-a vital vessel responsible for nourishing the fetus. Our study aims to investigate the effects of inorganic nitrate supplementation on pregnant women from the start of their pregnancy and continuing it throughout their term. If our findings are positive, it could revolutionize how we approach blood pressure management during pregnancy, paving the way for healthier futures for both mothers and babies.

Spironolactone for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

Background: \- High blood pressure in the lungs, known as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), is a rare disorder. In spite of recent advances in treatment, the death rate remains unacceptably high. Lung blood vessel function can be harmed by progressive injuries, such as inflammation, leading to worsening of the disease. A drug called spironolactone has been known to improve blood vessel function and reduce inflammation. Some people with PAH take spironolactone to help treat fluid retention. However, its effect on inflammation and blood vessel function in patients with PAH is not known. Researchers want to see if spironolactone can help these conditions in people with PAH. Objectives: \- To test the effectiveness of spironolactone in treating pulmonary arterial hypertension. Eligibility: \- Individuals at least 18 years of age with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Design: * This study will last for 24 weeks. Participants will be screened with a physical exam and medical history. Blood and urine samples will be collected. * Participants will take either spironolactone or a placebo. They will take their study drug or placebo for 7 weeks. Treatment will be monitored with regular blood tests. * In Week 8, participants who have had no reaction to the treatment will receive a higher dose of the drug or placebo. * In Week 12, participants will have a study visit with heart and lung function tests. They will also have a 6-minute walk test, and provide blood and urine samples. * After additional study visits for blood samples, participants will have a final visit in Week 24. The tests from Week 12 will be repeated at this visit.

A Study to Learn About the Study Medicine (Called PF-07868489) in People With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Who Have Previously Participated in a Clinical Study With PF-07868489
Pulmonary Hypertension

The purpose of this study is to learn about the long-term safety, tolerability and effects of the study medicine (PF-07868489) for the possible treatment of PAH. PAH is a condition in which there is high blood pressure in the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs. This high pressure makes it harder for the heart to pump blood through those lungs, potentially damaging the right side of the heart. This is an open-label study. Which means that both the healthcare providers and the study participants are aware of the medicine being given. This study is also an extension study with study medicine (PF-07868489). An extension study allows patients from an earlier clinical study (also called as qualifying study) to continue participating to assess long-term benefits and safety of the medicine.

The Effect of Oral SPM Supplementation on INflammation-induced Vascular Ageing in Obese Hypertensive Patients
Hypertension Obesity

Cardiovascular risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or smoking are associated with an increased risk of events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or peripheral artery disease. Lifestyle and dietary measures, as well as pharmacological treatments, can help correct these risk factors. However, several studies have shown that even with optimal treatment, individuals at high risk still face a residual cardiovascular risk. This phenomenon is primarily attributed to the development of vascular lesions, meaning damage within the blood vessels. These lesions are largely due to inflammation, an activated immune state that is more pronounced in overweight individuals and significantly contributes to vascular damage, potentially shortening the lifespan of those with cardiovascular disease. Although anti-inflammatory therapies have proven effective in reducing this risk, they may interfere with tissue repair and the immune system. For this reason, it is essential to identify strategies that promote the resolution of inflammation without compromising these vital processes. Specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) are compounds derived from omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are naturally found in various foods such as fish. These mediators help limit the infiltration of inflammatory cells and initiate the repair of damaged tissues. This type of dietary supplement is already available over the counter, but its health benefits have not been extensively studied. Experimental animal studies have shown that restoring inflammation resolution through SPMs can prevent-or even reverse-cardiovascular damage and inflammation by directly acting on vascular cells and modulating the immune system. However, human data on the role of SPMs and inflammation resolution in vascular disease remain very limited. The investigators hypothesize that in individuals at high cardiovascular risk (due to obesity and hypertension), increasing circulating levels of SPMs through oral supplementation (as a dietary supplement) would improve vascular function, metabolic profile, and inflammatory and immune cell responses. In doing so, this may help reduce the residual risk of cardiovascular disease. The objective of this research is to assess whether a supplement enriched with SPMs can facilitate the resolution of inflammation, which is essential for restoring vascular function and thereby supporting the body's natural tissue repair mechanisms. To address the research question, the study plans to include 60 individuals with obesity and hypertension, all presenting a high cardiovascular risk, recruited from healthcare facilities located in France. This research is publicly funded by the French National Research Agency (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) through the European research project RESPIN-VAR, co-funded by ERA4Health and the European Union.

Diagnosis of Pheochromocytoma

The goal of this study is to develop better methods of diagnosis, localization, and treatment for pheochromocytomas. These tumors, which usually arise from the adrenal glands, are often difficult to detect with current methods. Pheochromocytomas release chemicals called catecholamines, causing high blood pressure. Undetected, the tumors can lead to severe medical consequences, including stroke, heart attack and sudden death, in situations that would normally pose little or no risk, such as surgery, general anesthesia or childbirth. Patients with pheochromocytoma may be eligible for this study. Candidates will be screened with a medical history and physical examination, electrocardiogram, and blood and urine tests. Study participants will undergo blood, urine, and imaging tests, described below, to detect pheochromocytoma. If a tumor is found, the patient will be offered surgery. If surgery is not feasible (for example, if there are multiple tumors that cannot be removed), evaluations will continue in follow-up visits. If the tumor cannot be found, the patient will be offered medical treatment and efforts to detect the tumor will continue. Main diagnostic and research tests may include the following: 1. Blood tests - mainly measurements of plasma or urine catecholamines and metanephrines as well as methoxytyramine. If necessary the clonidine suppression test can be carried out. 2. Standard imaging tests - Non-investigational imaging tests include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sonography, and 123I-MIBG scintigraphy and FDG (positron emission tomography) PET/CT. These scans may be done before and/or after surgical removal of pheochromocytoma. 3. Research PET scanning is done using an injection of radioactive compounds. Patients may undergo 18F-FDOPA, 18F-DA, as well as 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT . Each scan takes up to about 2 hours. 4. A Study to Learn More About the Effects and Safety of Felzartamab Infusions in Adults With Primary Membranous Nephropathy (PMN)
Primary Membranous Nephropathy

In this study, researchers will learn more about the use of felzartamab in participants with primary membranous nephropathy, also known as PMN. In people with PMN, autoantibodies build up in the glomeruli of the kidney. Antibodies are proteins that help the body fight off infection. An autoantibody is a type of antibody that mistakenly targets and attacks the body's own tissues. Glomeruli are the filters of the kidney that remove waste and extra fluid from the body. In PMN, the build-up of autoantibodies in the glomeruli causes damage to the kidneys. Kidney damage can lead to too much protein and blood leaking into the urine. High levels of protein in the urine, called proteinuria, are common in people with PMN. Symptoms of PMN can include swelling in the legs and body, tiredness, and high blood pressure. If left untreated, PMN can eventually lead to kidney failure. In this study, researchers will learn more about how a study drug called felzartamab affects people with PMN. Felzartamab is a monoclonal antibody, which means it is an antibody made in a laboratory. Felzartamab can target immune cells that produce autoantibodies, helping to lower their buildup in the kidneys. The main goal of this study is to compare how felzartamab works compared to a drug called tacrolimus. Tacrolimus is another drug given to people with PMN and kidney disease. The main question that researchers want to answer is: * How many participants achieve a complete response after 104 weeks of treatment? * A complete response means that their urine protein levels decrease to a low level and their kidney function remains stable. Researchers will also learn about: * How long it takes before the participants' disease gets worse * How long the participants' urine protein levels stay low * How many participants develop antibodies against felzartamab in the blood? * How many participants achieve a complete response after 76 weeks of treatment * How many participants have medical problems during the study * How felzartamab is processed by the body * How felzartamab affects participants' tiredness and overall physical health The study will be done as follows: * Participants will be screened to check if they can join the study. This may take up to 42 days. * Participants will be randomized to receive either felzartamab as intravenous (IV) infusions or tacrolimus, taken orally as tablets. * If participants have worsening kidney function or worsening proteinuria, or if their PMN relapses, or if they show no signs of improvement in their PMN, they will have a chance to receive rescue treatment. * If a participant stops treatment early, there will be follow-up visits every 12 weeks until they reach Week 104. * In total, participants will have up to 23 study visits. Participants who do not need rescue treatment will stay in the study for up to 104 weeks. Participants who need rescue treatment will stay in the study for up to 156 weeks.

A Clinical Study of Sotatercept (MK-7962) in People With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (MK-7962-038)

Researchers are looking for more ways to treat PAH. In PAH, the blood vessels in the lungs become thick and narrow, which makes it harder for blood to flow. This causes high blood pressure in the lungs and overworks the heart. PAH can make it hard to breathe and be active. Some standard (usual) treatments for PAH can treat symptoms of PAH but do not stop PAH from getting worse. Sotatercept is a study medicine designed to treat PAH. It is a targeted therapy, which is a treatment that works on certain proteins that play a role in causing PAH. This is a long-term follow-up (LTFU) study. People who took part in certain other studies testing sotatercept for PAH may be able to join this study. The goal of this study is to learn about the long-term safety of sotatercept and if people tolerate it when taken with standard PAH treatment over a longer period of time.

A Study of LY3971297 in Healthy Participants
Healthy Obesity Hypertension

The purpose of this study is to measure side effects of LY3971297 injection administered under the skin in healthy participants and obese participants with high blood pressure (BP). Blood tests will be performed to check how much LY3971297 gets into the bloodstream and how long it takes the body to eliminate it. This is a 7-part study. The study duration will be approximately 60 days for Parts A and F, and approximately 90 days for Parts B, C, D, E, and G.

Optimised Treatment for Hypertension Trial
Hypertension

This randomized trial compares two prescribing strategies to treat high blood pressure. One approach involves remote treatment informed by randomized trial evidence without regular monitoring of blood pressure ("fire and forget"), whilst the other involves usual care treatment with access to frequent blood pressure monitoring. The study will enrol participants with uncontrolled high blood pressure and randomize participants 1:1 to a "fire and forget" treatment group or a "more blood pressure monitoring" group for a total of 12 weeks. "Fire and forget" involves choosing the most appropriate treatment based on the highest quality evidence (randomized trial data), after which participants will stop measuring blood pressures until the end of study. The "more blood pressure monitoring" group will involve treatment as usual but with the access to frequent and high quality blood pressure monitoring. The goal of this research is to: 1. determine which prescribing approach is more effective at lowering blood pressure after 12 weeks (end of study) 2. assess the safety, feasibility and acceptability of the two treatment approaches.

Navigating Hypertension and Food Insecurity
Hypertension (HTN) Food Insecurity

This multi-site randomized controlled trial uses a community-based approach to evaluate a Food as Medicine program for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) adults in Hawaii who have high blood pressure and difficulty affording healthy food. The study has two main goals: (1) to implement a produce prescription program and see if adding personal support from Community Health Workers (CHW) improves blood pressure among other health outcomes, and (2) to determine the program's cost-effectiveness. The study will take place across three Federally Qualified Health Centers in Hawaii. Produce prescription program participants at each site will receive $100 per month, either in the form of produce boxes or monthly vouchers to purchase fruits and vegetables, for 12 months (totaling $1200). In past studies, personal challenges (e.g., lack of transportation, lack of cooking skills) have made it difficult for participants to use the vouchers and/or the purchased produce. In other food as medicine interventions, participants have similarly faced various personal, social, and environmental barriers that limit the program's efficacy. To help participants navigate through these challenges, the investigators want to test adding 1-on-1 support from a CHW throughout the program. Other studies have found that health interventions delivered by CHWs have been effective in reducing blood pressure, blood glucose and weight, especially among vulnerable populations, such as NHPIs and those with food insecurity. The CHWs in this study will receive a training using a curriculum tailored specifically to their community and that is in alignment with the Pilinahā: The Four Connections Framework, which focuses on key connections that Indigenous people seek to attain health and can be employed to overcome health disparities. To test the effectiveness of the added CHW support, there will be two groups of participants: Group 1 (Intervention) will receive the monthly produce prescription ($100 vouchers or produce box) plus meet with a CHW every two months for support with program challenges. Group 2 (Control) will receive the same monthly produce prescription, but will not have meetings with a CHW. The investigators want to see if the added support from CHWs leads to better blood pressure results, among other health outcomes. Upon providing informed consent and enrolling into the program, produce prescription program participants will: * Attend 5 study visits over the one year program. These happen at the start, and then at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. * Complete health checks at the first visit. This includes getting a home blood pressure monitor and learning about heart health and nutrition. Staff will measure height, weight, waist size, and blood pressure. * Answer surveys about their demographic background, health habits, diet, and culture. * Receive $100 in vouchers every month for 12 months to redeem for fruits and vegetables at a local retailer. * Group 1 will additionally meet with a CHW every two months for 1-on-1 support with any challenges related to the program. * Group 2 will receive monthly reminders to use their vouchers but no CHW meetings. After the program ends, researchers will analyze the financial value of the intervention. This involves calculating the total cost to run the program (including vouchers, CHW training and salaries, and administrative costs) and comparing it to potential savings in healthcare costs. By looking at improvements in blood pressure, researchers can estimate how many heart-related health problems were prevented and how much money was saved on medical care.

Measurement of High Blood Pressure Using Boppli
Hypertension, Neonatal

This study evaluates a new, non-invasive device (Boppli™) that continuously measures blood pressure in newborn infants. The study compares Boppli measurements to standard blood pressure cuff measurements to determine how well the device works and whether it improves identification of high blood pressure in infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The study also includes follow-up through 1 year of age to understand longer-term outcomes.

Integrating Care for Hypertension-Diabetes MULTImorbidity in Guatemala Through HEARTS Implementation
Hypertension (HTN) Type 2 Diabetes

The purpose of this study is to find out whether a program called HEARTS can improve care for people who have both high blood pressure and diabetes. HEARTS was created by the World Health Organization to help primary care clinics deliver better treatment. It includes training for health workers, simpler treatment guides, better access to medicines, teamwork among clinic staff, and tracking systems to monitor patient care. In this study, 36 public primary care clinics in Guatemala will be randomly assigned to either use the HEARTS program or continue with their current care. About 1,440 adults who have both high blood pressure and diabetes will take part. Participants will be assessed at the start of the study and again after 12 months. The main measures are blood pressure and hemoglobin A1c (a blood test that shows average blood sugar levels over the past 2 to 3 months).

Acute Beetroot Juice Supplementation in Pre-eclampsia Pregnancies

Pre-eclampsia is a serious condition that typically affects pregnant women after the 20th week of pregnancy, characterized by high blood pressure and damage to organs such as the kidneys and liver. Currently, treatment options are limited, which has prompted researchers to explore alternative approaches. One such promising alternative is dietary nitrate found in vegetables like beetroot, as nitrate can be converted into nitric oxide in the body, which helps lower blood pressure. This study aims to determine the acute effects of nitrate-rich beetroot juice on blood pressure, several blood and salivary markers in pregnant women with pre-eclampsia and healthy pregnant. Furthermore, the study will assess fetal blood flow using Doppler ultrasound. We want to understand the kinetics of nitrate and nitric oxide metabolites and assess the temporal dependency of the hypotensive response. Through this investigation, we seek evidence of nitrate-enriched beetroot juice as an adjunct therapy in managing pre-eclampsia.
